Job summary

PowerGrid Services is seeking a Journeyman Lineman to install, repair, and maintain overhead and underground power lines and related equipment. The role is a senior step in a multi-step progression and requires thorough knowledge of Journeyman duties for the company.

Candidate will progress through various responsibilities, work safely in all weather, and collaborate with crew members while traveling as needed for assignments.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Journeyman level experience installing and maintaining overhead and underground power lines is required.
  • Valid CDL A is required.
  • First Aid Certification is required.
  • CPR and pole top rescue competency is required.
  • Pass drug, alcohol, and background checks.
  • Pass a physical examination.
  • Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
  • Willing to work in all weather environments and overtime when required.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely on construction, maintenance, or repair of energized and de-energized lines.
  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools.
  • Read blueprints and assist with inspecting structures.
  • Work from an aerial device and in team environments.
  • Assist with pole setting, line structures, and wire stringing.
  • Capable of climbing and performing bucket rescues.
  • Identify materials used in line work and understand grounding procedures.
  • Perform duties with high attention to safety and accuracy.

Job Summary

To install, repair and maintain overhead and underground electrical power lines and auxiliary equipment. This position is the third highest of a multi-step progression from Apprentice Lineman to Journeyman Lineman and is expected to know all aspects of Journeyman Lineman duties for the Company. Lower steps in this classification are expected to progress into all aspects of these duties.

This position is the third highest of a multi-step progression from Apprentice Lineman to Journeyman Lineman and is expected to know all aspects of Journeyman Lineman duties for the Company. Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized conductors. Capable setting poles and anchors according to safety policies and specifications.
  • Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
  • Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
  • Capable of learning distribution voltages on a circuit. Must be familiar with induced voltage.
  • Capable of learning to understand and read blueprints. Capable of assisting with inspecting and recognizing structural problems.
  • Able to work productively from an aerial device.
  • Able and willing to function within a team environment and share knowledge with fellow crew members as appropriate.
  • Able to work alone on de-energized lines. Capable of obtaining knowledge of wire stringing techniques.
  • Capable of learning and understanding how to sag wire from structure or bucket.
  • Able to assist with assembly and erect poles to all heights. Able to assist in framing and setting most basic line structures. Able to assist in framing a de-energized pole structure in the air.
  • Able to assist with installing all types of compression connections.
  • Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
  • Capable of properly installing and removing PPE and cover up. Capable of properly inspecting rubber goods, covers and PPE.
  • Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so.
  • Understands how to tie various lineman knots. Capable of creating and using a hand line.
  • Understands grounding procedures.
  • Understands principles of proper equipment set-up.
  • Able to identify different types of materials used in line work.
  • Understands minimum approach distance.
  • Understands flag and tag procedures.
  • Capable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

  • Able and willing to work in all types of weather environments including inclement weather.
  • Able and willing to work overtime when required.
