Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC in Louisiana is seeking an Overhead Distribution Groundperson to assist in energized and de-energized line work from the ground, supporting line crews with material handling and site prep.

You will perform safety-conscious construction, maintenance, and repair tasks, travel as needed for storm work, and operate ground tools. A valid driver's license is required, with CDL encouraged within 90 days. This role offers benefits and long-term stability.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, etc.
  • Driver license required; CDL preferred within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Perform new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead line work from the ground.
  • Assembles material on the ground to be installed by the lineperson or apprentice.
  • Communicate work clearly to property owners and the public.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in a safe condition and report hazards.

Overhead Distribution Groundperson

A skilled position with prior performance that understands the install and repair process for overhead distribution and transmission systems, which includes poles, cables, and electrical systems.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Perform new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead line workfollowing company established Safety and Health standards and from the ground.
  • Assembles material on the ground to be installed by the lineperson or apprentice.
  • Ability to problem solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
  • Ensure daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment.
  • Maintain company equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specification.
  • Will have contact with public and private property owners to professionally communicate work to be performed.
  • Participates in company training of all regional safety guidelines and is required to perform all work by the regional safety policies.
  • Operates various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-alongs, jack hammer and hand-line etc.).
  • All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.
  • Reports all potential equipment and crew safety hazards to Foreperson
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Education & Experience

Ability to provide proof of work experience, schooling, and other certifications obtained during career.

Pre-Screen

Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications

Driver License Required, willingness to obtain a valid CDL within 90 days of employment preferred.

Travel Requirements

Willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.

  • CONTINUOUS(up to 100%): Standing, Speaking Clearly, Seeing, Hearing-Speech Range, Color Vision, Lifting Up to 10 lbs.
