Job summary

ElectriCities of North Carolina is seeking an Apprentice I Lineworker to join our utility team and begin an eight-thousand-hour journey through the Lineman Career Development Program. This apprenticeship path includes progressive levels and hands-on experience in power transmission and distribution.

Under supervision, you will learn to install, maintain and repair lines, work on poles, and support substation and meter work while advancing through the program.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion or partial completion of Lineman Career Development Program or accredited Lineman apprenticeship program.
  • 6+ months of experience in electric utility line work or related education/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with installation, maintenance and repair of low and high voltage transmission and distribution lines.
  • Installs new services, overhead and underground.
  • Learns to set poles, string wire, and perform related work.
  • Participates in substation and meter work as required and makes repairs as needed.
  • Works in a team and maintains safe working relationships with colleagues and the public.
