Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company is seeking helpers to assist skilled craftspersons in installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems at construction sites in Ardmore, OK. You will work under supervision, climbing poles or using bucket trucks, and handling hand and power tools to support routine maintenance and repairs.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to follow written and oral instructions.

• Field experience in craft discipline and knowledge of safe tool use.

• Climb poles or use bucket trucks to access equipment.
• Learn to identify defective components using diagrams and testing instruments.
• Assist with excavating and drilling to erect structures.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Learn to install, maintain, test and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems, including conduits, cables, wires, and related equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches.
• Assist in stringing wire conductors and cables between poles, towers, trenches, pylons, and buildings, setting lines in place and using winches to adjust tension.
• Assist with opening switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards from disturbed or fallen lines or to facilitate repairs.
• Climb poles or use truck-mounted buckets to access equipment.
• Assist with placing insulating or fireproofing materials over conductors and joints.
• Learn to identify defective sectionalizing devices, circuit breakers, fuses, voltage regulators, transformers, switches, relays, or wiring, using wiring diagrams and electrical-testing instruments.
• Assist with excavating and drilling holes to erect and maintain structures

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess knowledge skills and abilities for position
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline
• Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Requirements

• The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
• Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions
• Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required
• May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
• Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces
• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment
• May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial site
• Must have required tools
• May require U.S. driver license
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required
• Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing
