Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company seeks an entry-level skilled craftsperson to assist with laying out, assembling and aligning machinery on site. You will work under supervision and gain hands-on experience across multiple procedures.

Responsibilities include using hand and power tools, reviewing inventory, rigging equipment, and assisting with installation and testing of machinery in a construction/industrial setting; safety and teamwork are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Must have ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Responsibilities

• Learn to use hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble and align machinery and install items.
• Assist with reviewing and verifying inventory of equipment/machine components and prepare foundations.
• Assist skilled craftsman with torquing equipment and machinery; rig equipment and direct crane operators on placement; test and adjust machinery.
• Assist with dismantling machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools; move machinery using hoists and dollies.
• Assist with assembly and installation of equipment; align machines using hoists, jacks, hand tools and plumb bobs; attach to foundations.

Assist skilled craftsperson(s) by performing supportive duties as directed and will work under immediate supervision. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Learn to use hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble and align machinery and install all other items
• Assist with reviewing and verifying inventory of equipment/machine components; checking accuracy of line and grade of existing foundation; prepare foundation for grouting and/or machinery placement; establishing and use centerlines and bench marks; establishing proper elevation of subsole and sole plates; set and aligning machine components; mix and place all types of grout;
• Assist skilled craftsman when they torque equipment and machinery; properly rig equipment and machinery and direct crane operators on placement of same. Test all installed machinery and equipment and make all necessary adjustments and/or repairs, if any.
• Assist with dismantling machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools; moving machinery and equipment using hoist, dollies, rollers and trucks;
• Assist with the assembly and installation of equipment; aligning machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, micrometers and plumb bobs; assembling machines and attaching them to foundations or other structures according to project specifications.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess knowledge skills and abilities for position
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline
• Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Requirements

• The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
• Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions
• Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required
• May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
• Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces
• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment
• May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial site
• Must have required tools
• Must pass Fit For Duty Testing
• U.S. Driver's License may be required
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required
• Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing
