American Electric Power in the United States seeks an experienced line technician to build, repair and maintain transmission and distribution systems, including overhead and underground work. You will open and close switches, install grounding devices and work with energized conductors following safety protocols.
You will climb poles or ride in a bucket to install or repair wires and hardware, and work on underground facilities such as cables, transformers, potheads and pedestals.

Builds, repairs and maintains electrical transmission and distribution overhead and underground systems, requiring use of precautionary work methods and safety equipment due to electrical hazards present when working on or near energized conductors and electrical accessories. Opens and closes switches and installs grounding devices to lines and equipment.

40 hours per week with overtime and travel as required. Must be available for overtime callout including weekends and holidays. This role requires regular overtime and on-call response. Travel, including out of town travel, may also be required.
Compensation Grade: U070-925
Compensation Range: $37.23 - $56.36
The Physical Demand Level for this job is: H – Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10-20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
