Job summary

Federal Express Corporation in Memphis is seeking a Dispatcher for Linehaul operations to manage dispatch of transportation equipment according to the Linehaul plan and to optimize trailer usage while ensuring on-time pickups and deliveries. You will enter dispatch events in the TMS, monitor equipment status, and support safety initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

A high school diploma or GED is required, with dispatch experience preferred.

• Knowledge of concepts, practices and transportation regulations used in Linehaul field operations, including DOT regulations
• Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications

Responsibilities

• Executes the dispatch of transportation equipment in accordance with the Linehaul plan.
• Ensures Linehaul dispatch and arrival rules are followed according to defined Company procedures.
• Dispatches cargo shipments to maximize the trailer volume while meeting package delivery obligations.
• Enters dispatch events into an online system (TMS) to ensure on time delivery and pick up of trailers.
• Verifies the location of equipment in the dispatch system by completing yard inventories.
• Verifies the load/unload status of trailers by completing yard checks. Timely reports missing equipment.
• Follows and communicates safety initiatives to ensure a safety-conscious culture.
• Investigates and reports schedule delays, accidents and equipment failures and implements contingency plans which ensure on-time load delivery in the event of an en-route breakdown or accident.
• Reviews and communicates Department of Transportation (DOT) roadside violations to management.
• Compiles data and provides various regular and adhoc reports to management for review and determination.
• Assists management with Business Control Self Assessment (BCSA) audit activity by retrieving data and/or files for review.
• Reviews trailer load condition reports (TLCR’s) to ensure proper completion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
