Qualifications

  • Valid Class A, Commercial Driver’s License required.

Job description

South Central Power Company has an immediate opening foranApprentice LineWorkerorJourneyman Line Workerat ourHillsborolocation.Journeyman Line Worker is preferred.

Responsibilities will be assigned based on the successful candidate's level of training and experience but will include types of work involved with the installation, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities, which includes substations. Safety is a top priority of South Central Power Company. Therefore, the successful candidate will have demonstrated safe work practices, exceptional communication skills, and be committed to playing an active role in safety.

Job Related Qualifications
  • Journeyman must have Journeyman Line Worker certification
  • Apprentices must possess a completion certificate of a line technician trade program
  • Valid Class A, Commercial Driver’s License, and a current Department of Transportation Medical Examiners Certificate
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Successfully pass a background check, drug/alcohol test and pre-employment physical
  • Must successfully complete a knowledge-based pre-assessment
  • Apprentices are required to successfully complete a company sponsored apprenticeship program.
Special Requirements

The awarded candidate will be required to reside within 30 miles of the Hillsboro office and be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for scheduled or unscheduled assignments.
