Job summary

Simmons Foods, Inc. is seeking a Line Unloader at the Emporia, KS facility to ensure smooth transfer of finished product from Retorts to packing. You will monitor quality, unload baskets, and coordinate with operators to maintain flow.

You will perform sanitation, document activities, and support team objectives. This on-site role requires English proficiency and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Verifies that the machine is set up properly and reviews the production schedule.
• Brings a full retort basket into the unloader for unloading.
• Inspects finished product for image, odor, color, chunks and codes; pulls samples as needed.
• Looks for defects and illegible codes; removes faulty products from the line.
• Communicates with the Retort Operator, Tray Packers and supervisors; ensures baskets cycle to the loader.
• Verifies suction cups are in good condition; performs weekly sanitation; completes paperwork.

Job description

To continue the flow of finished product from the Retorts and/or Hydro to the packing area.

Essential Position Responsibilities

• Verifies that the machine is set up properly. Reviews production schedule.
• Brings a full retort basket into the Unloader for unloading.
• View finished product, checking for image, odor, color, chunks. Check to see if it looks good and if it is sticking to the can. Pulls sample product for the lab and supervisors. Identify any hold tags and any change-overs.
• Watch for product defects such as dented or leaking products; pull defected products out of the system at the unloader. Looks for products with no codes or illegible codes.
• Communicates with the Retort Operator, Tray Packers and supervisors. Ensures baskets cycle to the loader.
• Verify that all suction cups are in good operating condition.
• Perform weekly sanitation.
• Complete all required paperwork.
  

Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
