Job summary

Stanley Electric US is seeking a skilled Line Supply Team Leader in Ohio to manage on-floor stock and support production lines. You will train temporary staff, plan daily shopping routes, and ensure safe, efficient operation of PITs and line-side processes.

Responsibilities include coaching associates, coordinating with other shifts on production issues, and maintaining proper inventory control and line readiness for the next shift.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • SUS Forklift/tugger certification or equivalent is required.
  • Knowledge of assembly lines and shopping routes is essential.
  • Experience using Microsoft C.Core, Report Manager and Lotus Notes.
  • Ability to adjust to swing shifts or shift changes as needed.

Responsibilities

Our London, Ohio facility houses lighting and mold design, construction, production engineering, and dedicated associates in our Quality, Assembly, Sales, and Customer Service departments. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Team Leaders oversee the actual site on our floor to ensure proper stock levels on assembly lines and support their associates as problems arise. Associates in Line Supply Shopping positions provide Assembly Lines with the needed components to run daily production. They shop for parts from component stores by driving PIT’s (Power Industrial Trucks) and deliver them to a refrigerator line side.

Team Leaders are to support their coordinator with the following duties:

  • Communicate relevant production-related issues to other shifts.
  • Conduct and oversee on the job training for temporary workers and associates to ensure efficient and safe operations for PIT drivers
  • Assign manning daily shopping plans with regard to absenteeism and the allocation of associates to ensure that manpower is efficiently distributed; fill in with shopping as necessary.
  • Assist in performance issues by initially coaching/counseling in order to address problems and ensure a positive work environment. Ensure adherence to company policies, practices and procedures.
  • Always Contact coordinator (from any department) when a situation becomes hostile, insubordinate, or has a safety/quality incident or accident concern.

Team Leaders verify that their Line Supply Shoppers follow the following duties:

  • Sign out your PIT vehicle and scan gun according to rules. Follow InfoLink safety check list to confirm good operation of assigned PIT.
  • Confirm status of assembly line at beginning of shift to prevent line down time.
  • Component amounts to be picked are determined by following the min/max rules per our process design. Help shoppers keep this schedule.
  • Confirm proper min/max rules are displayed on lineside refrigerators (blue signs) While shopping, line supply pulls components from refrigerators according to signs posted for FIFO (in/out), FEFO (time dated material) and IPP/abnormal process flow rules. This includes the return of product to stores after a lineside changeover.

  • Line supply must use a scan gun to transfer products from stores to their tugger and delivery to lineside refrigerators. Traceability of product serial number is enforced.
  • Always keep a clean and safe working environment. Lines must be kept in orderly conditions for stock levels, trash and/or dunnage overflows.
  • Must pay close attention to associate pedestrian traffic. Give associates the right away. Always stop at stop signs and follow proper PIT operating requirements. Park in designated locations.
  • Line Supply is responsible to remove recycled products from assembly lines. Support SUS recycle program by following designated signs to keep products separated and delivered to appropriate receptacles. Do not cause contaminations of mixed recycled products. Report full recycle compactors or other receptacles immediately.
  • Damage to products or any SUS property must be reported as an incident. This also includes safety accidents or injuries involving associates and the PIT driver. Report incidents and all near miss situations immediately to the nearest supervisor.
  • Do not interrupt production associates, this may cause a quality or skipped process concern, resulting in a defective part shipped to our customer.
  • Confirm end of day status. Shoppers must ensure that the assigned production line has appropriate stock level conditions for the next shift start up. Request overtime when needed. Report any failures to comply before leaving work.
  • Each Shopper is responsible to report any conditions immediately to their team leader or coordinator that prevents them from following these guidelines, especially when there is a potential for a line down occurrence or a quality and/or safety concern.

HOW YOU WILL QUALIFY:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • SUS Forklift/tugger certification and/or other similar large PIT operator experience
  • Knowledge of assembly lines and shopping routes
  • Experience using Microsoft C.Core, Report Manager, and Lotus Notes
  • Adaptability to adjust work schedule, including swing shift or shift change as needed
  • Proficient Proficiency in inventory software, databases and ERP/MRP systems
  • Proficient in using Microsoft programs
  • Proficiency in using a scan gun and computer tablet for shopping routes and reporting
  • Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods to keep correct quality components moving to our assembly lines
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to constantly lift up to 40 lbs., working in fast and strenuous conditions throughout the shift
  • Control hazardous equipment including forklift/tugger and batteries
  • Work safely in a manufacturing environment while driving PIT’s
  • Ability to work overtime and/or swing shifts
  • Manufacturing Environment ( 7) hour per day
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required to perform essential functions at remote locations or receive training.
  • Required to work overtime (unplanned and unscheduled) to meet customer deadlines and requirements.
HAZARDS:
  • While performing the job the position is frequently exposed to moving or mechanical parts including forklifts, tuggers, and battery changing cranes
  • Must drive in high traffic areas with other PIT operators by assembly lines while being be very couscous of associates on our floor
  • Move products in tight lanes around the plant, some close to work areas or obstacles to where you must be couscous of your surroundings to prevent damage or injury
  • Moderate noise levels with specific areas may require you to wear hearing protection.
