Job summary

Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC) seeks a Line Superintendent to provide strategic leadership and oversight of all operations functions, ensuring a safe, reliable delivery of electric service. The role leads field crews, contractor performance, and system reliability while ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory obligations.

You will collaborate with the Director of Operations and coordinate with Engineering and System Operations on projects, schedules, and maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• Must have 7+ years in electric utility construction and maintenance.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive supervisory or leadership experience.
• Valid Texas driver's license or ability to obtain.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities for outage situations.

Line Superintendent

Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC)

POSITION PURPOSE

In collaboration with the Director of Operations provides strategic leadership and oversight of all operations functions to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of electric service. Leads personnel, contractor performance, and system reliability efforts while ensuring compliance with TCEC standards, safety requirements, and regulatory obligations.

JOB DIMENSIONS Internal Responsibility

Leads and collaborates with Operations, Engineering, and System Operations to align priorities, execute work, and ensure safe and reliable system performance. Develops and holds teams accountable for results, safety, and performance.

External Responsibility

Oversees contractors and external partners to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality work. Supports positive member relations through reliable service and issue resolution.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Consistently demonstrates the appropriate tone and applicable lessons learned of leadership principles from Leadership Landmines: 8 management catastrophes and how to avoid them.
• Models the TCEC Essential Attributes as a regular pattern of behavior and self-awareness. Inspires others to do the same.
• Provides overall leadership of operations to ensure alignment with organizational goals and system reliability.
• Leads, develops, and holds operations personnel accountable for performance and safety.
• Ensures safe, reliable construction, maintenance, and inspection of the distribution system.
• Oversees contractor performance, work quality, and invoice accuracy.
• Establishes priorities, work plans, and schedules to meet operational needs.
• Coordinates with Engineering and System Operations to execute projects and maintenance activities.
• Monitors performance metrics and drives continuous improvement.
• Identifies and resolves operational risks, hazards, and system issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required. Minimum seven (7) years of experience in electric utility construction and maintenance. Minimum five (5) years of progressive supervisory or leadership experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License or obtain within a reasonable timeframe.

Operational / Functional Experience

Demonstrated experience leading electric distribution construction, maintenance, and outage response. Background includes line operations, switching, troubleshooting, contractor coordination, and safe execution of field activities. Experience overseeing crews, managing work execution, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational procedures

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information, particularly during outages, switching, and field operations. Proven leadership ability to develop teams, set expectations, and drive accountability. Demonstrates sound judgment, problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Technical proficiency in electric distribution systems, equipment operation, and field practices. Working knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Office, mapping platforms, and work management software.
