Job summary

RigUp is seeking a Line Locator/Rover to locate and mark underground pipelines and utilities in Midland, Texas. The role involves extensive fieldwork, map/blueprint reading, and using electronic locating gear and GPS to protect transmission lines and ensure regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, 1–3 years in pipeline operations or utility locating, and strong attention to detail and communication. Rotational 12-hour shifts, $20.00/hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• 1–3 years of experience in pipeline operations or utility locating.
• Knowledge of pipeline systems and underground utility infrastructure.
• Proficiency with electronic locating equipment and GPS devices.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Physical ability to walk extended distances over rough terrain in various weather conditions.
• Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and pipeline safety standards.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to call-outs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark underground pipelines, utilities, and associated infrastructure using electronic locating equipment
• Patrol and inspect pipeline rights-of-way on a regular basis
• Monitor pipeline systems for leaks, damage, encroachment, or unauthorized activity
• Document and report any irregularities, damages, or safety concerns
• Respond to utility locate requests and mark lines according to regulatory requirements
• Read and interpret pipeline maps, drawings, and as-built documentation
• Communicate with landowners, contractors, and other stakeholders in the field
• Maintain accurate records and complete required reports and documentation
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements
• Perform meter readings and pressure checks as needed
• Participate in emergency response activities when required

The Line Locator/Rover is responsible for locating, identifying, and marking underground utilities and pipelines in the oil and gas field. This position involves patrolling designated pipeline routes, monitoring for potential issues, and ensuring the integrity and safety of natural gas and oil transmission lines. The role requires extensive fieldwork and the use of specialized locating equipment.
