Job Description

The Pipeline Integrity Technician II is responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of pipeline assets. This position will use mechanical/technical equipment to accurately locate underground facilities, electrical power lines, gas lines, and water lines. This role requires knowledge of job procedures and tools. Works under moderate supervision. Communicates information that typically requires explanation or interpretation. Problems faced are generally routine and may sometimes require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions
  • Outdoor working environment with varying weather conditions
  • May be required to stand for long periods of time and potentially engage in frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting items in excess of 20lbs
  • Sometimes exposed to hazardous environments that would require PPE (personal protective equipment) to be worn
  • Frequently on the road and may remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time; must be able to operate a motor vehicle and engage in frequent eye/hand/foot coordination
  • Must be available to work holidays, weekends, and non-scheduled callouts
Responsibilities
  • Use company provided equipment and technology to accurately locate underground utilities
  • Analyze data collected from inspections and monitoring equipment to assess the condition of pipelines
  • Conduct site assessments and surveys to gather data on pipeline locations
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of pipeline locations and conditions
  • Collaborate with construction teams to provide information on underground utilities to prevent damage during excavation
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure proper maintenance and working condition of equipment and tools
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay updated on technologies and techniques in pipeline locating
  • Perform other duties as required
Skills and Qualifications
Required Skills
  • Understanding of natural gas industry standards, market trends, emerging issues, and regulatory requirements
  • Previous experience in pipeline or utility locating is highly desirable
  • Proven experience reading maps and blueprints
  • Knowledge of excavation and trenching
  • Ability to work in diverse terrains (e.g., grass, ditches, wooded areas, gravel, etc.), in and around construction zones, residential, commercial, industrial and rural areas and in all types of weather conditions (e.g., rain, snow, cold, heat, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with managers, crews, and homeowners to discuss locate issues
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office and job-related applications; understands how to use digital tools to make informed decisions
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, organization and prioritization skills
