SUMMARY: Operate, direct, and oversee the manufacturing process of grating to ensure proper spacing and piece size as defined by the job traveler or instructions. This includes working with a team and requires good coordination, communication, and teamwork. Work is reviewed by a supervisor to ensure quality and accuracy.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Review job travelers to determine the material, process, and machinery needed.
  • Assist with work assembly, production line setup, and changeovers.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, especially during shift changes.
  • Follow all operating procedures, process instructions, and safety protocols.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately, including time cards, job travelers, and tags.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
  • Report all quality issues immediately to supervision.
  • Perform other duties and cross-train as assigned.

Qualifications: A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Ability to safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and hand/power tools is necessary. Must be able to read standard and metric measurements and perform basic arithmetic without a calculator. Prior manufacturing experience in steel or aluminum is preferred.

Physical Demands: Tasks involve repetitive movements, standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, grasping, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 75 pounds, using proper techniques and assistance if needed.

Work Environment: Work is performed on the production floor with exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, and machinery hazards. Use of PPE is required.
