Job summary

Ryerson in the United States seeks a Line Operator to support safe, productive operations and on-time delivery while upholding exceptional customer service. You will work across multiple production lines and perform measurements and quality checks, contributing to a compliant and efficient manufacturing environment.

The role requires setting up and operating various lines, identifying non-conforming materials, and data entry for fulfilled orders, with forklift/crane/mobility experience

Qualifications

• Pass a skills-based assessment covering reading, math, inspections and measurements.
• 3–5 years or more on cut-to-length line settings preferred.
• Steel industry background preferred.
• Ability to read tapes, micrometers and calipers.
• Overhead crane and mobile equipment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate production lines (Temper Mill/CT-L), packaging, plasma and laser systems in a team.
• Identify non-conforming materials and take corrective action as needed.
• Perform data entry for fulfilled orders and quality checks.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes and warehouse tractors safely.
• Carry out other duties as assigned or changed.

As a Line Operator, you will play a key role in the organization’s efficient operation ensuring that goals are met surrounding safety, productivity, quality, and on-time delivery providing a great customer experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates various production processing lines, including Temper Mill/Cut to Length Line, Automatic Packaging Line, Plasma Cutter, Laser Cutting Line, and Press Brake Forming Line in a team environment setting
• Identifies non-conforming materials
• Performs data entry for processed fulfilled orders
• Operates Forklifts, Electric Overhead Cranes, and Warehouse Tractor
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment – evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• 3-5 years or more experience in cut-to-length line setting preferred
• Steel industry background preferred
• Able to read a tape measure, micrometers, and calipers
• Overhead crane experience preferred
• Experience with mobile equipment preferred
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
