Job summary

Avangrid is seeking a Union Line Mechanic Apprentice in Canandaigua, NY, for overhead line work. The role requires several years of overhead construction/maintenance exposure or formal training, plus a valid driver's license and a willingness to work on a 24/7 on-call basis.

Hourly pay ranges from $39.41 to $40.41, with responsibilities spanning operation, maintenance, and construction of the overhead electric system, plus related underground work where applicable.

Qualifications

• Must have obtained a high school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain CDL or other certifications for the specific job.
• Three years’ experience in overhead electric construction and maintenance or formal training in the field.
• Able to understand and diagnose overhead electric system problems and perform corrective work.
• Willing to respond to calls 24/7 and work in all weather conditions.

• Safely and effectively performs work related to operation, maintenance, and construction of the overhead electric system.
• Diagnose and correct problems in the overhead electric system.
• Safely perform operation, maintenance and construction of the underground system where equipped.
• Represent the Company in a professional manner.
