Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction in Canton, OH is seeking a Line Maintenance Laborer to support the Line Maintenance Supervisor. The position involves unskilled and semi-skilled tasks, with overtime for emergencies to ensure smooth department operations.

Under Line Maintenance Supervisor with direction from Heavy Equipment Operator, performs various unskilled and semi-skilled tasks to assist with efficient operation of the department. Overtime for emergency repairs required.
truck, van, light utility vehicle or other motorized vehicles to and from job sites; operates equipment including loaders and excavators; installs pipe, makes repairs to manholes and pipe. Uses a variety of hand and power tools and motorized equipment to perform skilled and unskilled laborer tasks; digs up pavement with sledge hammer, pick, crowbar, shovel, air hammer and other related tools; digs ditches; cleans culverts; trims bushes; operates equipment necessary to clear easements; cleans snow from walks; spreads salt to walks and other areas; maintains equipment; loads and unloads materials, supplies, equipment onto or from trucks, dollies, carts, skids or any other vehicle; raises, lowers, and adjusts manhole casting rings; cleans sewer lines and manholes and makes necessary repairs; secures job site in accordance with regulations; acts as flag person; installs concrete and asphalt repair patches. Assists Line Maintenance Heavy Equipment Operator as appropriate for the task; including bedding pipe, connection of all types of sanitary sewer line. Assists with backfilling and compacting. Performs other related duties as required.
Completion of high school or GED plus previous unskilled or semi-skilled work experience, or the equivalent. Possession of a valid Class A Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (or obtain within 1 year of hire, training provided). Possession of OEPA Wastewater Collection I & Water Distribution I Licenses preferred.
