ModusLink is seeking a Line Leader to supervise and guide assembly operators, ensuring adherence to standard work and safety guidelines while driving productivity and quality. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Train, coach, and mentor assembly operators to follow standard work and meet productivity targets.
  • Maintain quality standards, identify issues, and support corrective actions.
  • Assess production line status, staffing, bottlenecks, and recommend solutions.
  • Assemble and/or package components per client specifications.
  • May use hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Update KPI boards and hour-by-hour production boards to track performance.
  • Monitor line in real time, explain variances, escalate issues, and support root-cause analysis.
  • Manage component traceability, reject downtime, and maintain audit-ready records.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain housekeeping, safety, and 5S in parts storage and workplaces.
  • Perform other departmental duties as required.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Line Leader works alongside and guides less experienced team members in performing a variety of manual tasks to achieve daily production goals. This role is responsible for setting up and organizing production lines to fulfill specific orders or meet overall targets. Line Leaders supervise and motivate employees, fostering teamwork and accountability to ensure consistent performance. They are expected to drive efficiency and productivity while maintaining high-quality standards. Additionally, the Line Leader ensures that all operations are carried out in a safe, compliant, and well-organized working environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Train, coach, and mentor assembly operators to ensure they are properly trained, consistently follow standard work, understand quality and safety requirements, and achieve productivity targets.
  2. Maintain a heightened awareness of quality standards, identify issues early, provide recommended solution to supervisor, and support corrective actions.
  3. Assess the status of the production line, including staffing levels and potential bottlenecks; address immediate issues impacting output and provide timely recommendations to the supervisor to support smooth operations and target achievement.
  4. Assemble and/or package components according to client specifications.
  5. May use hand tools in assembly and/or measuring devices.
  6. Understand, update, and maintain KPI boards and hour‑by‑hour production boards to ensure accurate tracking of performance metrics and production progress.
  7. Monitor the production line in real time, identify and explain variances from hourly targets, elevate issues promptly, and support root cause analysis and countermeasure implementation to drive continuous improvement.
  8. Manage component traceability, reject tracking, and downtime tracking to ensure accurate records are maintained; uphold audit readiness by consistently meeting documentation and compliance requirements.
  9. Conducts regular cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
  10. Maintain all housekeeping, safety, and 5S requirements and guidelines in regard to parts storage areas and workplaces.
  11. Performs other departmental duties, as required.
Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High School or equivalent education and 1–2-year experience preferred
  2. Communication and math skills.
  3. Ability to read and analyze data.
  4. Quality conscious attitude and ability to perform routine and/or repetitive tasks with care and attention to detail.
  5. Basic knowledge of PC and Microsoft Office.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  1. Moderate to high noise levels on production floor.
  2. Exposure to lift truck traffic.
  3. Shift work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Ability to see, and speak, hear, write, and understand English.
  2. Ability to lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds.
  3. Prolonged standing and repetitive motion.
  4. Ability to read and analyze data and other written information.
  5. Moderate physical exertion.
