Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a Line Haul Supervisor to oversee the line haul operations, drive on-time delivery, and mentor drivers. You will supervise, allocate tasks, and partner with center leadership to meet safety, quality, and efficiency goals.

The role requires strong leadership, knowledge of fleet operations, and a focus on continuous improvement. OD emphasizes a family culture and opportunities for advancement within its 260+ service centers.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2 years working operations experience preferably in the transportation industry.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS and BLU systems.
• Knowledge of general DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and evaluates safety of each employee daily; trains on safety processes as needed.
• Monitors service center lanes to ensure freight reaches centers for timely cross docking.
• Trains and mentors drivers to improve performance and on-time delivery.
• Directly manages drivers to ensure proper utilization and development of team members.
• Collaborates with Operations Manager, Central Dispatch and Service Center Manager to meet daily/weekly/monthly targets.
• Provides training and feedback on RPM, speed, and idle scores.

This role will successfully manage the line haul department of the service center. They will also maintain and achieve department/shift and service center and/or company standards for safety, quality, efficiency, cost, service and delivery, training and development and housekeeping. Our Line Haul Drivers are critical members to our OD Family; they help to accurately deliver our customer's freight and help us keep our promises.Responsibilities:Monitors and evaluates the safety of each employee on a daily basis, trains on safety processes as neededMonitors multiple service center lanes to ensure freight reaches service centers in time for efficient cross dockingMonitors, evaluates, and teaches safe driving habitsMonitors employees to ensure service goals are metDirectly manages, supervises, and assigns tasks to drivers to ensure proper utilization and development of team members while meeting customer expectations.Closely works with the Operations Manager/Assistant SC Manager, Central Dispatch, and/or Service Center Manager to ensure alignment in meeting daily/weekly/monthly and yearly business objectives.Provide instruction, analyses, suggestions and ideas for the improvement of operations within the shift, department, and facilityProvides training and feedback to employees on a continual basis regarding RPM, over speed, and idle scoresConstantly uses OD’s proprietary technology system permitting consistent monitoring of shipment locations and drivers as freight moves through the various terminals while communicating continuously throughout the day with associates, customers, and team members verbally and through other computer operating systemsCompletes the various company and government forms utilized in freight movement such as shipping manifests, freight bills, inter-terminal movement forms (ITM's) and exception formsConducts daily inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, as well as OSHA compliance, and DOT complianceConducts quarterly safety meetingsMotivate drivers to exceed goals and maintain the 99% on time percentageStrive for continuous improvement in all areas of service center operationsOperates AS400 system, BLU system, DYMS, and any other computer/internal freight monitoring systems used within the company to monitor freight movementSpeak with drivers, evaluating their needs and maintaining a successful relationshipWorks with dock supervisors on getting trailers closed and moved on to its destinationQualifications:High School diploma or equivalent required,Bachelor’s degree preferred2 years working operations experience preferably in the transportation industrySupervisory experience preferredWorking knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS and BLU systemsKnowledge of general DOT regulationsGood verbal and written communication skillsCompensation Range:The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting.
