Job description

Toojay's is hiring cooks ASAP at our restaurant in the Wellington Green Commons.

Our Line and Deli Cooks take pride in creating classic recipes and flavors of a traditional New York deli. This key role is critical to our success in executing the highest quality food with speed and efficiency.

Since 1981 TooJay's New York-style Deli has been a fan favorite. With locations across Florida, we are famous for piled-high sandwiches, hearty portions of homemade comfort foods and made-from-scratch soups, salads and baked goods.

Line Cook Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience in a full-service restaurant or related field
  • Flexible and long hours required at times
  • Ability to stand during entire shift, exerting up to 50 pounds as needed
  • Must be able to maneuver safely throughout the walk-ins and kitchen during the shift
  • Able to handle and operate safely: microwaves, knives, steam tables, gas range, char broiler, fryers, salamander, convection ovens, meat/bread slicers, check printer, kitchen display system, scales, automatic dishwasher and all chemicals
  • Ability to reach overhead, carry hot catering trays, handle hot and cold beverages, bend below the waist, crouch and communicate intentions to co-workers
  • Approach all encounters with Guests in a friendly, socially distanced and service-oriented manner
  • Continuously clean high touch points throughout the kitchen
  • Maintain regular schedule in compliance with TooJay’s business levels which may vary based on the needs of the restaurant and check list protocols and standards of cleanliness
  • Maintain high standards of personal grooming, including wearing proper uniform and facial mask and gloves when/where required
