Line Cook, The Aerie, Snowbird - Year-Round Full Time

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Snowbird is situated in the middle of the Wasatch Mountain Range and is not only home to awe-inspiring views and mighty terrain, it is also home to employees equally as remarkable. Snowbird is continually looking for the best, those who share a passion for these mountains and the outdoors. Snowbird is a unique resort with distinct summer and winter seasons and offers full-time, part-time and seasonal positions.

TITLE: Line Cook

LOCATION: Aerie

STATUS: Full Time, Year Round

SCHEDULE: Varied shifts days, must work weekends/holidays

SUMMARY

As a line cook you will be responsible for coordinating individual stations and communicating with front and back of house personnel to provide a dining experience that exceeds guest expectations. You are expected to understand and follow kitchen health, safety, and cooking rules.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  1. Report to work on time in the proper uniform.
  2. Ensure standards of appearance and sanitation are maintained daily.
  3. Follow food quality, food safety, preparation, handling and nutrition procedures.
  4. Maintain good safety practices of employees throughout the kitchen.
  5. Participate in on-going employee training.
  6. Obtain assigned station from Chef at the beginning of the shift.
  7. Prepare food for your station and be ready to assist others if needed.
  8. Complete daily duties before and after the shift.
  9. Take fast and appropriate action to solve problems.
  10. Handle guest concerns in a professional manner.
  11. Maintain line of communication between Chef, Sous Chef and other kitchen staff.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  2. 1-2 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence
  3. Food Handler Permit
  4. Knowledge of kitchen health and safety rules
  5. Must be at least 18 years of age
  6. A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure
  7. Great listening and multi-tasking skills
  8. Strong organizational skills
  9. Must be able to travel to Snowbird Resort

WORK SCHEDULE

  1. Schedule is based on business levels, including weekends and holidays
  2. Must be prepared to stay overnight, if necessary, on occasional times of road closures

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  2. Standing for Long Periods: Must be able to stand for extended periods during cooking/prepping activities.
  3. Bending, Kneeling, Reaching, and Grasping: Must be able to perform these movements to handle all banquet set up needs.
  4. Exposure to Cold and Extreme Weather: Work is indoors on majority of occasions but walking between buildings and parking lot might require being outside in cold, snowy, icy conditions.
  5. Frequent Interruptions: Ability to maintain focus and accuracy in an environment with frequent interruptions, guest/staff interactions and unpredictable situations.
