Job Summary

The line cook will work with the kitchen staff in the daily production, preparation, and presentation of all food for the restaurant in a safe and sanitary work environment. Ensure all food is served according to specifications set by the supervisor.

Job Description
Essential Functions
  • Prepare and cook food items according to recipes, daily menus, and supervisor instructions.
  • Maintain and rotate all food items to ensure quality; date and label all food items and practice FIFO (First-In-First-Out).
  • Clean and inspect kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
  • Operate food stations, perform station checklists, maintain temperature logs, and ensure proper signage.
  • Requisition food supplies, equipment, and appliances based on estimated needs.
  • Monitor menus and spending to ensure economical meal preparation.
  • Be knowledgeable of all restaurant stations and menu item preparations.
  • Maintain awareness of safety issues and report immediately to management.
Skill and Knowledge Requirements
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. preferred.
  • At least one year of culinary experience.
  • Food Safety certification and strong sanitation habits.
  • Strong customer service skills and proactive assistance to customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to recognize problems and communicate them effectively to management.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Frequent movements on foot, bending, lifting, reaching, and environment navigation.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand throughout the workday and climb stairs regularly.
  • Ability to withstand temperature extremes in various kitchen areas.
  • Effective verbal communication with team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential.

  • Standard commercial cooking machinery and utensils.
