Job Summary

The line cook will work with the kitchen staff in the daily production, preparation, and presentation of all food for the restaurant in a safe and sanitary work environment. Ensure all food is served according to the specifications set by the Supervisor.

20.00 USD Hourly

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Prepare and cook food items according to recipes, daily menus, and supervisor instructions.
  2. Maintain and rotate all food items to ensure food quality; date and label all food items and actively practice FIFO (First-In-First-Out).
  3. Clean and inspect kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
  4. Operate food stations, including performing station checklists, temperature logs, and signage.
  5. Requisition food supplies, kitchen equipment, and appliances based on estimates of future needs.
  6. Monitor menus and spending to ensure meals are prepared economically.
  7. Be knowledgeable of all stations and menu items in the restaurant.
  8. Maintain awareness of safety issues and report them immediately to management.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. preferred.
  • At least one year of culinary experience.
  • Food Safety certification and strong sanitation habits.
  • Strong customer service skills; actively seeks ways to assist customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to recognize problems and communicate them to management.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Moving about on foot, bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and extending arms frequently.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for the entire workday.
  • Climbing steps regularly.
  • Enduring temperature extremes in freezer, refrigerator, and grill areas.
  • Effective verbal communication in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential.

  • Standard commercial cooking machinery and utensils.
