Job Category - Restaurant - Food Service

SUMMARY:

Perform all methods of cookery, portion control, garnishing of dishes, and follow recipes in accordance with standards set forth by Pine Needle & Mid Pines. Follow the direction of the Executive Chef in maintaining the highest standards of food quality, taste, and production.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of 1-year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Display friendliness and helpfulness at all times, to Members, Guests, Visitors, Business Partners, and fellow Associates
  • Adhere to all Property and Department policies and procedures.
  • Observe all safety and security procedures. Use equipment and material properly. Report potentially unsafe conditions
  • Ensure production of food in a timely manner.
  • Prepare food so that the quality, taste, and appearance of food are in accordance with the standards of Pine Needles & Mid Pines.
  • Control proper usage and rotation of food.
  • Ensure food quality and appearance on the buffet, and plated food is in accordance with the standards of Pine Needles & Mid Pines.
  • Alert Chef or direct supervisor to any food quality issues that could have an adverse effect on the culinary operations.
  • Maintain walk-in coolers and food storage areas on a daily basis.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and sanitary workstation.
  • Ensure work station and all equipment is clean and sanitized prior to the change of shift.
  • Ensure outlined prep is completed in a timely manner for the next shift.
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities of the job as deemed necessary by Executive Chef, Chef on duty, & as changes occur in the work environment and/or workload.
  • Make sound judgment calls and decisions based upon principles set forth by the Pine Needles culinary management team.
  • Operate within established guidelines, policies, standards, and constraints set forth by Pine Needles & Mid Pines.
  • Attend departmental Safety Meetings on a regular basis.
  • Assist other departments as needed.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, dining room order tickets, and memos. Have the ability to write simple correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear and taste or smell. The associate is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance. The associate is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
