Job summary

Blues City Cafe in Memphis, TN is seeking a Line Cook to accurately and efficiently cook meats, seafood, vegetables, fried goods, soups and other food products as well as prepare and portion food products prior to cooking.

Also perform other duties in the areas of food and final plate preparation including plating and garnish of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes and sides for all menu items according to menu specs.

Qualifications

• Be able to follow printed recipes and plate specifications.
• Maintain personal hygiene in accordance with Health Department standards.
• Communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room staff.
• Stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours).
• Able to lift up to 60 lbs and work in a hot, loud environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, vegetables and other items for cooking on broilers, ovens, grills and fryers.
• Assumes responsibility for quality of products served and adheres to menu specs and portion sizes.
• Maintains clean, sanitary work areas and proper storage and rotation of products.
• Portions, marinates, breadings and garnishes items as required and assists with plating.
• Supports other kitchen stations and adapts to schedule needs.
