Job summary

Hotel Zeppelin, part of Sage Hospitality Group, is seeking a Line Cook (Full-Time) to craft smash burgers and savory sides for guests in San Francisco.

As a member of the PLS on Post team, you will follow kitchen procedures, maintain sanitation, prep ingredients, and support daily operations while working Saturday-Tuesday (PM) and some AM shifts. High school education and 1–2 years’ kitchen experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of related kitchen experience.
  • Knowledge of CA Food Safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure items are cooked and presented in a quality, efficient, and consistent manner.
  • Prep ingredients for menu items.
  • Monitor line setup for maximum efficiency during meal periods.
  • Maintain kitchen sanitation and follow a "clean as you go" policy.
  • Follow all food safety handling rules.
  • Prepare items in advance without over-preparing.
  • Check pars for shift use, prep, freezer pull and line setup.
  • Note out-of-stock items or shortages.
  • Close kitchen procedures and prepare for the next shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Overview

Cook delicious smash burgers and savory sides that delight our guests while ensuring proper service from the front line through quality control and sanitation levels.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all items served are cooked and presented in an efficient, consistent and quality manner.

  • Prep ingredients for menu items.

  • Monitor the line set up prior to all meal functions to ensure maximum efficiency during meal periods.

  • Monitor the equipment maintenance and kitchen "clean as you go" policy to ensure strict adherence.

  • Follow all food safety handling rules.

  • Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to prepare more than estimated needs.

  • Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up.

  • Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages.

  • Return all food items not used on the next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.

  • Perform all kitchen closing procedures from food storage to kitchen and appliance cleanliness to stewarding duties. Ensure that the kitchen is ready for the next shift.

  • All other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications

Availability

  • Must be able to work Saturday-Tuesday (PM 3:00pm-10:00pm) and some AM shifts.

Education/Formal Training

  • High school education or equivalent.

Experience

  • Experience required by position is from one to two full years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s).

Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of cooking and the practices and procedures of a kitchen.

  • CA Food Safety.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying: All of these functions are essential primarily because of the heavy production associated with Banquets. Items include food, small equipment -75% of the time.

  • Bending of the knees does become necessary when using the lower oven for cooking, 5-10 times a day.

  • Mobility -full range of mobility and the ability to travel 30-50 feet on a regular basis throughout the day.

  • Continuous standing -during preparation, during service hours or during expediting, usually all day.

  • Must have moderate hearing to hear equipment timers and communicate with other staff.

  • Must have excellent vision to see that product is prepared appropriately.

  • Must have moderate comprehension and literacy to read use records and all special requests.

  • Lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying. Position regularly involves lifting food cases and metros weighing up to 70 lbs. Pushing and pulling carts is required.

  • Bending/kneeling: Regular bending to lift items and supplies. Periodic kneeling.

  • Mobility: Regularly moves all around kitchen.

  • Continuous standing: To complete a task, may be stationary for short periods of time.

  • Periodic climbing required.

Environment

Inside 100% of 8 hour shift. Going in the freezer temperatures can be -10 degrees. On the front line, temperatures can be over 100 degrees.
