About Grins Vegetarian Cafe

Grins Vegetarian Cafe, located within the Ben Shulman Center for Jewish Life on Vanderbilt University's campus, is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join the team. As a premier destination for vegetarian, vegan, and kosher meals as part of the campus meal plan, we prioritize quality, service, and fostering a welcoming environment.

Position Overview

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team at Grins Vegetarian Cafe as Line Cooks. This position offers full-time hours with competitive pay and benefits. Candidates will be responsible for food preparation, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and ensuring all food items are stored properly.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables and performing other meal prep tasks.
  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees, and desserts.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, and washing dishes.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
  • Assist in monitoring food stock and placing orders when there are shortages.

Skills

  • Proven experience as a Prep Cook or similar role.
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen setting.
  • Manual dexterity to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.
  • A team player with good communication skills.
  • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure.

Schedule

  • AM Prep Cook: Monday to Friday: 6:30 AM - 1:30 PM
  • PM Prep Cook: Monday to Thursday: 1:30 PM - 8:30 PM, Friday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
