Job summary

Kimpton is seeking a Cook/Commis Chef to contribute to preparing and presenting dishes that delight guests in a fast-paced kitchen environment. You will maintain high standards, manage workflow, and support the team in delivering exceptional service.

The role requires physical stamina, adaptability to night/weekend shifts, and a commitment to cleanliness and safety in line with local regulations.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
• Good reading, writing and basic maths skills.
• Willingness to work night, weekend and holiday shifts.
• Compliance with local food handling laws and alcohol service; fluent in local language.

Responsibilities

• Create meals that are visually appealing and meet high standards.
• Own your kitchen: manage supplies and equipment to minimise waste.
• Report unsafe equipment, low supplies or safety incidents to supervisor.
• Follow safety procedures and wear protective equipment to create a safe kitchen.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene to meet local laws.
• Assist with washing up and other kitchen duties as needed.
• Assist guests with queries and provide advice to enhance experience.
• Wear your uniform with pride.
• Take on ad-hoc duties to support the team.

Key Accountabilities

• Make each meal a feast for the eyes and treat for the taste buds. With your own signature flare, you’ll turn our high standards into memorable meals for every guest.
• Own your kitchen – keep on top of supplies and equipment, and minimise waste.
• Tell your supervisor or duty manager about any unsafe equipment, low supplies or safety incidents.
• Help create a safe space by following our safety procedures and wearing necessary protective equipment.
• Be cleaner than clean – meet or exceed local cleanliness and hygiene laws.
• Help with washing up and other kitchen duties when needed.
• Give guests a better experience by helping with any queries or advice
• Wear your uniform with pride.
• Take on other ad-hoc duties when the whole team needs to pull together.

Key Skills & Experiences

• Strong – sometimes you’ll need to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50lbs (23 kg). This can involve bending and kneeling.
• Literate – you’ll need a good grasp of reading, writing and basic maths.
• Flexible – night, weekend and holiday shifts are all part of the job.
