Thomas E. Strauss, Inc., is a family-owned hospitality group including Millers Smorgasbord, Millers Bakery, The Quilt Shop at Millers, Locally Made Food Shop, Annas Gifts & Sundries, Plain & Fancy Farm, AmishView Inn and Suites, Smokehouse BBQ and Brews, and Plain & Fancy Country Store.

Position Summary:

Line Cooks I & II at Smokehouse BBQ and Brews prepare and direct food preparation according to sanitation, health, and hygiene standards, following established procedures. Responsibilities include managing supplies and equipment to minimize waste. Part-time positions are available, primarily during peak dinner and weekend hours, with shifts of 2-3 per week, including evenings from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare or oversee food preparation following established procedures.
  • Determine required quantities and ensure timely availability of supplies.
  • Serve food properly, maintaining sanitation and hygiene standards.
  • Store food safely, label dates, and report equipment issues.
  • Follow standard recipes and dietary requirements accurately.
  • Coordinate food production with meal service times to maintain quality and presentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.
  • Perform food temperature checks before service.
  • Complete daily production records and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred for Line Cook I.
  • Experience and staging required for Line Cook II.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Prior food service experience preferred.
  • Basic reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Ability to stand, reach, lift, and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and good sensory skills.
