Description

Cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot food products. Prepare and portion food prior to cooking, and perform duties related to final plate preparation, including plating and garnishing of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu items.

  • Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of the SERG Restaurant Group.
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain food preparation areas to ensure safe and sanitary practices.
  • Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperatures.
  • Maintain food freshness by checking quality, tracking old and new items, and rotating stock.
  • Follow restaurant standards for portion sizes, cooking methods, and quality standards.
  • Stock and maintain sufficient food levels at line stations.
  • Handle, store, and rotate food products according to policies.
  • Stir or turn foods for even cooking.
  • Season and cook food based on recipes or judgment.
  • Cook using baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming methods.
  • Measure and mix ingredients using appropriate utensils and equipment.
  • Portion, arrange, and garnish food for service.
  • Test foods for doneness using tasting, smelling, or piercing methods.
  • Follow proper plate presentation and garnishing procedures.
  • Prepare fruits and vegetables for cooking.
  • Carve and trim meats for service or sandwiches.
  • Assist in food prep during off-peak times and during rush periods.
  • Close the kitchen following checklists and assist in closing procedures.
  • Participate in employee meetings and suggest improvements.
  • Coordinate with team members to meet guest needs and support operations.
Position Requirements
  • Previous kitchen preparation and cooking experience preferred.
  • Effective communication skills with managers and staff.
  • Ability to read and understand food tickets in English.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in a standing position for long hours.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
