Job description

Position Summary

The line cook will assist all chefs in preparing food and perform other culinary tasks as needed. The job requires physical endurance and mental determination, and involves working in a high-volume atmosphere.

$17.50 - $19.00/hr + tips

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assist in kitchen setup prior to restaurant opening.
  2. Monitor stations for quality, temperature, and freshness of products.
  3. Maintain all production pars.
  4. Ensure all served food meets company and health standards.
  5. Prepare specialty items as directed by the Executive Chef, CDC, Sous Chef.
  6. Communicate daily with the culinary team regarding product specifications and execution.
  7. Set up and prepare food items for assigned station.
  8. Work efficiently to ensure timely plating of food.
  9. Assist other line cooks as needed.
  10. Prepare portions for plating as assigned.
  11. Assemble dishes and garnishments.
  12. Monitor efforts to eliminate food waste.
  13. Maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
  14. Properly store unused items and shut off equipment at shift end.
  15. Participate in cleaning the kitchen before closing.
  16. Maintain procedural manuals and guides.
  17. Comply with mandatory trainings, including sexual harassment and workplace safety.
  18. Follow all company procedures.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • At least 3+ years of experience in restaurants, hotels, or private parties.
  • Motivated, hardworking, passionate.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • San Diego County Food Handlers Card (must be obtained within 30 days of employment).
  • ServeSafe certification preferred.
  • Anti-harassment and nondiscrimination 1-hour class.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to sit, stand, or walk for up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds safely.
  • Able to bend, stoop, climb, push, and pull.
