Job summary

Elderwood at Ticonderoga in Ticonderoga, NY is seeking a reliable Line Cook to join our Dining Services team. You will prepare wholesome meals from rotating menus, follow recipes, dietary requirements, and safety standards to support resident health and comfort.

In this role you will work in a fast-paced kitchen, monitor temperatures, maintain cleanliness, and contribute to a compassionate, resident-centered dining experience that makes a meaningful day for those we serve.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 yrs age required. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous food preparation experience required.
• Ability to understand and organize food preparation activities required.
• Ability to carry out cooking tasks at a safe and efficient level of performance required.
• Health status suitable for service of food required.

Responsibilities

• Review menus and production sheets to determine food quantities for regular and special diets.
• Prepare specified food items, as assigned.
• Test cooked foods by tasting and smelling samples.
• Ensure sanitation and safety standards are met in the preparation and production line stages.
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of equipment and kitchen area.
• Supervise food being cooked and ensure proper holding temperatures.
• Assist with preparation and distribution of foodstuffs.

Position Overview

As a Cook, you'll be responsible for preparing meals according to weekly rotating menus, standardized recipes, resident dietary requirements, and established food production procedures.

You'll help ensure meals are not only nutritious and safe, but also appealing and enjoyable for our residents.

From preparing special diets to monitoring food temperatures and maintaining a clean kitchen, you'll play an important role in supporting resident health, comfort, and quality of life.

• Prepare specified food items, as assigned.

• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of specified equipment and the general kitchen work area.
• Supervise food being cooked; ensures that food is held and served at correct temperature.
• Assist with preparation of and distribution of foodstuffs.
