Job summary

Hollywood Casino St. Louis is seeking a Line Cook to join our kitchen team. Pay starts at $18.00 per hour with shifts that vary. Reports to Sous Chef and may supervise line staff in their absence.

You will prepare items to standardized recipes, assist other kitchen areas, and maintain cleanliness. Requirements include year minimum, ServSafe, and ability to work in fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of related experience or training, or equivalent education.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word).
• Must read/write in English and have good verbal communication.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, percentages).
• Able to obtain ServSafe certification.
• Physically able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform duties in a kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Receives daily instructions from Sous Chef.
• Supervises line staff in Sous Chef's absence.
• Prepares menu items per standardized recipes with speed and accuracy.
• Assists in other kitchen areas as directed.
• Cleans station and stores perishable items properly.
• Leads daily tasks within the department.

As a Line Cook, you will:

Pay: $18.00 per hour | Shift: Varies

• Reports to Sous Chef at start of shift to receive instruction as to daily specials and menu changes.
• Supervises and directs line staff in absence of Sous Chef. Prepares recipe per standardized recipes and production sheets.
• Prepares plate menu items, as ordered, per specifications on hot food production line with strict attention to detail, speed, and accuracy. s.
• Assists in other areas of kitchen as instructed by Sous Chef.
• At completion of service, puts all perishable foods in covered containers and refrigerates.
• Cleans station and reports to Sous Chef for closing instructions.
• Leads completion of daily tasks within the department or work unit.

• three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word).
• Must be able to read and write in English and have good verbal communication skills.
• Basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, fractions, decimals, percentages, etc.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Must be able to obtain ServSafe.
• Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations including ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 25 lbs., and the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
