Our approach to dining is grounded in quality, creativity, and a respect for the ingredients and people behind every dish. We believe great hospitality comes from a team that takes pride in its craft, works with intention, and understands that the smallest details can make the biggest difference in a guest’s experience.
We’re looking for people who care about what they do, support one another, and want to be part of a kitchen that delivers memorable dining experiences in a truly special setting.
The Line Cook is an essential part of the culinary team at The Halyard, helping bring our seasonal menu to life through consistent preparation, thoughtful execution, and attention to detail.

You take pride in your craft and care about the details, from preparation to final presentation.
You stay calm, focused, and organized when service gets busy.
You’re a team player who communicates clearly, supports your coworkers, and steps in where needed.
You follow recipes and established standards while bringing consistency, urgency, and sound judgment to every shift.
You anticipate what needs to happen next, whether that means restocking, prepping, cleaning, or communicating a need.
You respect ingredients and understand the importance of food quality, proper handling, sanitation, and organization.
You’re dependable, coachable, and open to feedback because you’re committed to improving your skills.
You enjoy working in a seasonal, waterfront hospitality environment where the team works together to create memorable guest experiences.

Cook and plate menu items according to recipes, presentation standards, and the direction of culinary leadership.
Coordinate with the Chef and kitchen team throughout service to ensure food is prepared accurately, consistently, and on time.
Communicate allergies, dietary restrictions, special requests, menu updates, low-stock items, and service needs promptly.
Maintain consistent portion control, product quality, and food presentation.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and emergency procedures.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, equipment, and shared kitchen spaces.
Practice proper food storage, labeling, rotation, and waste management.

Support prep, dishwashing, and other kitchen responsibilities as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
Work collaboratively with culinary leadership and fellow Team Members to maintain a positive, professional, and productive kitchen environment.
Prior experience in a professional or commercial kitchen preferred; candidates with less experience who demonstrate a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
Working knowledge of basic knife skills, food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen sanitation practices.
Ability to follow recipes, verbal direction, and established culinary standards consistently.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail, reliability, and a professional approach to food, coworkers, and the workplace.
Ability to prioritize tasks, remain organized, and respond appropriately to changing service needs.
Food handler certification, or willingness to obtain one as required.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and seasonal shifts based on business needs.
