Job summary

Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is seeking a remarkable Line Cook for the Holiday Inn & Suites in Monterey Park, CA.

Prepare foods per recipes and standards, ensure sanitation, and operate a range of kitchen equipment. Collaborate with the F&B team to support guest satisfaction, training, and continuous improvement while maintaining a high standard of guest service.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt processes.
  • Proficiency in the primary language used in the workplace.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computational ability.
  • Ability to read recipes and follow instructions.
  • Culinary technique skills (cutting, cooking principles, plating, safety, sanitation).
  • Capability to create, set up, and break down buffet and display stations up to 8 feet high.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, including freezers and hot kitchen environments.
  • Stamina to stand and move for up to 4 hours continuously.
  • Physical strength to lift and carry up to 250 lbs on carts and equipment.
  • Manual dexterity for operating kitchen machinery (sliders, mixers, grinders, etc.).
  • Ability to drive and maintain any required licenses, certificates or permits.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Receive and store food and deliveries.
  • Coordinate with upper kitchen management and other departments.
  • Participate in long-range planning and hotel programs.
  • Participate in physical inventories.
  • Be available and approachable for guests.
  • Follow the property’s recovery plan and guest concern handling.

Job Purpose

Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe sanitary work environment. Warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance reassure guests they’ve made the right choice to stay with us.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare all food items according to standard recipes and as specified on guest check and following company and brand standards, to ensure consistency of product and achieve high guest satisfaction.
  • Prepare daily requisitions for supplies and food items for production.
  • Visually inspect, select, and use only food items of the highest standard in the preparation of all menu items.
  • Check and control the proper storage of product and check portion control to maintain qualifying product.
  • Keep all refrigeration, equipment, and storage and working areas clean and compliant with health department regulations.
  • Maintain good knowledge of accepted sanitation standards.
  • Operate kitchen equipment (stoves, ovens, broilers, slicers, steamers, kettles, etc.).

  • Consult with upper kitchen management daily and coordinate with other departments related to the Food & Beverage Department.
