Job summary

Zinc Café & Market in Los Angeles is seeking a Line Cook to join our kitchen team. You will work closely with peers to prepare dishes, follow recipes, and maintain high standards of quality and cleanliness.

We value teamwork, reliability, and a proactive approach to learning. This full-time role involves busy shifts, proper handling of ingredients, and adherence to safety guidelines in a vibrant, community-focused setting.

Qualifications

• Team player with a positive attitude and ability to work in a team.

• Able to read kitchen tickets and follow recipes accurately.
• Food handlers certification and US work authorization required.

Responsibilities

• Display working knowledge of all ingredients and preparation used on the menu.
• Follow company recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications.
• Maintain a fully stocked station and ensure all food meets standards.
• Keep station clean and organized throughout shift.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen team and promote teamwork.
• Eagerness to refine skills and learn and grow.
• Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Handle varying business volume with composure and positive attitude.
• Perform opening and closing duties as directed by managers.
• Follow safety guidelines for preventing transmission of illnesses.

Responsibilities

• Display working knowledge of all ingredients and preparation used on the menu
• Follow company recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications

• Consistently ensure station is clean and organized
• Communicate effectively with the kitchen team and embody an environment of teamwork
• Demonstrate an eagerness to refine skills and desire to learn and grow
• Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines
• Handle varying levels of business volume with composure & a positive attitude
• Perform all opening and closing duties assigned by managers
• Follow all safety and state guidelines for preventing transmission of Covid-19 and other illnesses

• 1+ year in a line cook position at a casual dining restaurant or similar experience
• Basic food, kitchen equipment and prepping knowledge

• Food handlers certification
• Work Authorization: United States Citizen or Undocumented Noncitizen authorized to work in the United States

Work Context

• Working with hot foods and beverages
• Walking and standing for long periods of time
• Tasks will be performed using and in the proximity of coolers, stoves, and other hot equipment
• The employee may frequently be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch for duration of shift (eight hours or longer)
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move and/or push up to 50 pounds without assistance
