Job summary

Zinc Café & Market is seeking a motivated Line Cook to join our kitchen team in Laguna Beach. You will work with a friendly crew to prepare menu items, follow recipes, and maintain a clean, well-organized station throughout each shift.

We value teamwork, attention to detail, and a positive attitude in a busy dining environment. Prior line cook experience and familiarity with food safety guidelines are preferred; we offer competitive wages and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Display working knowledge of all ingredients and preparation used on the menu.

• Maintain a fully stocked station and ensure all food meets standards.
• Keep station clean and organized throughout the shift.
• Communicate effectively with the kitchen team and foster teamwork.
• Demonstrate eagerness to refine skills and learn and grow.
• Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
• Handle varying business volumes with a positive attitude.
• Perform opening and closing duties as assigned by managers.
• Comply with Covid-19 and other health guidelines.

Responsibilities:

• Display working knowledge of all ingredients and preparation used on the menu
• Follow company recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications
• Maintain a fully stocked station throughout each shift and ensure that all food meets company standards
• Consistently ensure station is clean and organized
• Communicate effectively with the kitchen team and embody an environment of teamwork
• Demonstrate an eagerness to refine skills and desire to learn and grow
• Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines
• Handle varying levels of business volume with composure & a positive attitude
• Perform all opening and closing duties assigned by managers
• Follow all safety and state guidelines for preventing transmission of Covid-19 and other illnesses

• 1+ year in a line cook position at a casual dining restaurant or similar experience
• Basic food, kitchen equipment and prepping knowledge
• Must be able to read tickets on screen
• Food handlers certification
• Work Authorization: United States Citizen or Undocumented Noncitizen authorized to work in the United States

Work Context:

• Working with hot foods and beverages
• Walking and standing for long periods of time
• Tasks will be performed using and in the proximity of coolers, stoves, and other hot equipment
• The employee may frequently be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch for duration of shift (eight hours or longer)
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move and/or push up to 50 pounds without assistance
