Job summary

The Madison Club in La Quinta, California is seeking a Line Cook who is passionate about food, beverage and hospitality to provide exceptional meals for our members and guests.

Candidates should have 1-2 years of full-service kitchen experience, hold a CA Food Handlers Card (or obtain within 7 days), and be able to follow recipes precisely while maintaining portion control and kitchen cleanliness. This role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• CA Food Handlers Card and certification within 7 days.

• Ability to follow recipes and maintain portion control.

Responsibilities

• Develop and present new ideas to the Executive Chef.
• Stock kitchen with fresh ingredients daily.

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and areas.
• Follow health and safety standards and company policies.
• Support team and attend department meetings as needed.

Job description

The Madison Club is hiring for Line Cook who are passionate about food, beverage and the art of hospitality. Our company’s objective is to provide exceptional food and create memories for our members and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Continuously create and present new ideas to Executive Chef
• Stock the kitchen with raw materials and ingredients daily
• Master all basic cooking methods
• Acquire ingredients daily for assigned station
• Help and prepare food items as per standard recipe cards whilst maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
• Maintain and clean equipment on a regular basis
• Promptly report any hazards, unsafe working conditions, or equipment which requires repair/maintenance
• Attend department meetings as necessary
• Adhere to all Department of Health food & safety standards
• Comply with company and department policies and procedures at all times
• Carry out any other duties as and when assigned by the Management of the Hotel and department
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and storage areas at all times
• Execution of recipes and ability to follow recipes and all house-made ingredients promptly and efficiently
• All food should be plated and presented accordingly
• Demonstrate sense of urgency for responding to guest needs during all interactions
• Any other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of full-service restaurant experience as a Line Cook or relevant position preferred
• Possess CA Food Handlers Card (FHC) - Must obtain certification within 7 Days of Hire
• Understanding food safety, sanitation, and ServSafe practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
• Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and verbal instructions accurately.

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to work in a team environment
• Degree/Certification(s) recommended
• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holiday and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English; additional languages preferred
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than four (4) hours, and lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

The Company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $21-$31 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
