Job summary

Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa, part of Crescent Hotels & Resorts, is hiring a line cook in Honolulu, Hawaii. You will prepare food items to production standards, maintain a sanitary kitchen, and support an energetic culinary team.

We value reliability, teamwork, and a willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. High school diploma preferred; prior kitchen or food service experience is a plus as you contribute to guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Prepare food items according to production standards and quality controls.
• Maintain a safe, sanitary kitchen environment.
• Rotate and date perishables and ensure proper temperatures.
• Check pars for shift, assist in mise en place and line setup.
• Follow Crescent standards and assist in controlling food costs.

• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
• Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs.
• Date all food containers and rotate as per Crescent standards, keeping perishables at proper temperatures.
• Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line setup; aid in keeping buffet stocked.
• Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
• Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs.
• Date all food containers and rotate as per Crescent standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
• Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up. Note any out-of stock items or possible shortages. Assist in keeping buffet stocked.
• Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.
• Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage per Crescent standards.
• Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill.
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
• Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

What Is Required

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Previous experience as a cook or in food service is an advantage.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
