Job summary

Essex Meadows in Essex, CT is seeking a Morning Line Cook to execute a menu using herbs, vegetables, and locally sourced ingredients. The role requires a passion for healthy, delicious dishes and the ability to work in a community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic and understand measurements and conversions.

Responsibilities

• Exemplify cleanliness, sanitation and organization in all times.
• Adhere to food quality, appearance and presentation standards.
• Prepare and serve menu cycles meeting nutritional/dietary criteria as required by local regulations.
• Maintain speed, accuracy and efficiency in cooking processes.
• Demonstrate knowledge across all cooking preparations and production.
• Assist with serving meals and ware washing as needed.
• Visit residents to evaluate food service and suggest operational improvements.
• Represent the community in a warm, inviting manner to create a positive atmosphere.

Essex Meadows is looking for a cook with a passion for creating healthy, delicious food dishes with herbs, vegetables and fresh and locally sourced ingredients.

Position Overview

• Exemplify at all time Community standards of cleanliness, sanitation and operation organization.


• Responsible for adhering to food quality, appearance and presentation standards at all times.


• Produce and serve menu cycle programs that are compliant with required Nutritional/Dietary criteria as required by local regulations and correctly prepare diets provided per Policy and Procedure.


• Exhibit cooking standards of speed, accuracy, and efficiency.


• Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of cooking preparation and production.


• Assist with serving of meals and ware washing as necessary.


• Visit residents periodically to evaluate food service such as quality, quantity, temperature, and appearance; and conduct evaluations to make revisions in operations / procedures to promote improved food service.


• Represent the community in a warm and inviting manner, which creates a positive marketing environment.

Supports creating a culture where the business decisions made in this position, along with individual employee engagement, drive top-line revenue and occupancy.

Qualifications

• Some healthcare/hospital experience is preferred along with a positive personality and a strong work ethic.


• Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.


• Ability to perform simple arithmetic and understand measurements and conversions.
