Job summary

Givens Communities is hiring for a full‑time culinary assistant to prepare food items, ensure sanitation, and follow menus in a campus living environment. You will plan cooking schedules and work closely with residents and guests to meet expectations.

Responsibilities include fulfilling catering orders, maintaining safety standards, and collaborating with culinary leadership to deliver high-quality meals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in food service operations.
  • Knowledge of proper cooking methods, temperatures, and yields for meats and other foods.
  • Ability to time the cooking of vegetables to preserve nutrition, flavor and appearance.
  • Ability to accurately estimate food quantities and yields from bulk foods.
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
  • Experience preparing and serving meals in an appealing and appetizing manner.

  • Prepare food items, equipment, supplies and garnishes needed for effective operations.
  • Maintain the highest degree of sanitation, cleanliness and food safety in the work area.
  • Follow menus provided, making changes only with consent of culinary leadership.
  • Plan cooking schedule so finished product reaches the consumer at peak quality.
  • Work directly with residents, team members, and guests to ensure expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Fulfill catering orders for events on campus.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by an authorized supervisor as needed

Schedule/Availability
  • Full‑Time – Weekdays and weekends: 10:30 am to 8:30 pm (Gatehouse and Assisted Living)
  • Part‑Time – Weekdays and weekends: 10:30 am to 7 pm
  • PRN – Weekdays and weekends: 7 am to 3 pm or 10:30 am to 8:30 pm

Compensation

$17.00 to $19.00 per hour
