Job Title: Line Cook
Reports To: Restaurant Manager
SCOPE:
Responsible for learning and demonstrating proficiency and consistency in food production, maintaining and improving the Williams Fell standards of quality in every aspect of preparation and ware-washing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate kitchen equipment such as fryers, ovens, stoves, mixers, and additional equipment.
- Prepare simple dishes, dressings, and foods according to instructions.
- Prepare foods for cooking and assist others as needed.
- Check for adequate supplies of foods and seasonings.
- Understand production/prep scheduling, create and follow production charts.
- Plan prep production to minimize waste and maintain clean food prep areas.
- Demonstrate safe food handling procedures (labeling, dating, rotating).
- Clean kitchen areas and operate ware-washing equipment.
- Use time efficiently, stay organized, and plan trips effectively.
- Operate and clean all kitchen equipment safely.
- Complete daily checklists and inspection logs.
- Adhere to portion sizes, quality standards, and garnishes; educate others to uphold standards.
- Make thoughtful decisions and accept responsibility for them.
- Resolve guest complaints promptly and satisfactorily.
- Arrive on time according to the schedule.
- Follow uniform guidelines, including proper attire and hair restraints.
- Maintain a positive attitude focused on guest satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the hotel team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
- Attend scheduled training sessions as required.
- Must be able to read and understand English for job functions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent; minimum 1 year cooking experience in a restaurant or hotel.
Skills:
- Hospitality and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- Strong organizational and prioritizing skills.
- Ability to work under high stress, both mentally and physically.
- Mathematical skills for measurements and recipe calculations.
- Food safety certification is a plus.
Physical Job Requirements:
- Bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), standing, exposure to heat, stairs, walking, heavy equipment, etc.
- Working in extreme temperatures (freezer, heat).
- Hearing: ability to hear server requests.
- Vision: ability to check food for accuracy and wholesomeness.
- Speech: ability to communicate effectively with servers and management.
- Literacy: ability to read tickets and banquet orders.
