Job summary

Wayne Farms in Tyler, TX is seeking workers for an assembly-line position. You will debone chicken carcasses on a moving line, using knives or scissors, and rotate to other tasks as needed. PPE must be worn and safety guidelines followed.

The role requires standing for long periods in a cold, damp environment, with the possibility of nights, weekends and extended shifts. High school diploma and poultry experience are preferred.

ON THE JOB TRAINING

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Primarily responsible for working on an assembly line performing one or two steps in removing parts/pieces from a whole bird on the cone line. Must always use and maintain personal protective equipment, and work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

• Use a knife or scissors to cut and debone chicken carcass as it moves down a line in front of them.
• Follow directions and work in other departments as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Ability to stand for long periods of time, doing rapid and repetitive work in a cold and damp environment.
• It may also include lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
• Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Ability to perform all tasks as assigned by members of management.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours.
• Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Relative poultry industry experienced.
• Basic math functions and skills.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

• Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work in a wet and cold environment (45 ºF, 4 ºC).
• Ability to stand for an 8 hour shift.
• Ability to be exposed to noise (>85 decibels), CO2, and moving production.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 10 pounds repeatedly, and climb steps.
• Ability to frequently stoop, kneel, crawl, and bend.
• Ability to work in an environment with strong, raw animal odors.
