Job summary

Regent Surgical Health in Chicago seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to perform decontamination, prep, assembly, sterilization and high-level disinfection of instruments and equipment. Depending on the setting, help prepare case carts and materials.

Responsibilities include separating contaminated instrumentation, sterilizing, labeling, and documenting processes; maintain equipment and communicate needs to supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Sterile Processing education from an accredited school or training program.
• BLS certification (as required by individual ASC policy).
• Experience in sterile processing is preferred.
• Outpatient Ambulatory Surgery Center experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Separate and prepare contaminated instrumentation for cleaning.
• Prepare, install, assemble, clean, and sterilize/disinfect operating room equipment and instrumentation and medical devices.
• Decontaminate, process, sterilize/disinfect, and distribute medical supplies.
• Inspect and perform functional checks on instrumentation/equipment to assure proper functioning prior to set/tray assembly.
• Process, wrap, and label all equipment and instrumentation for sterilization using appropriate wraps and containers.
• Perform proper documentation as it relates to the sterilization/HLD process.
• Perform all duties relating to daily maintenance for all types of sterilizers/re-processors.
• Communicate departmental equipment and supply needs to appropriate supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY:
