Summary

General Excavating is an award-winning contractor serving public and private owners throughout Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming. General Excavating specializes in the construction of underground utilities, natural gas distribution, environmental remediation, excavation shoring, directional drilling, hydro-excavation, and heavy civil including bridge and concrete structures.

General Excavating is searching for a highly motived and detail-oriented Form Setter. This position is responsible for performing tasks associated with concrete form setting, concrete finishing, rebar installation, and dirt work. You will assist the foreman to verify work is in compliance with blueprints and specification and meets quality and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Perform various formwork related tasks involving physical labor and the use of hand or power tools on heavy civil construction projects.
  • Study blueprints and sketches to construct concrete structures in accordance with project specifications.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform simple project layouts accurately.
  • Assemble and fasten materials to build wood and steel forming systems used to cast concrete structures using hand or power tools and screws, nails, or dowel pins.
  • Erect and dismantle forms and other supports for assembling structures above ground level.
  • Align, place and tie reinforcing steel mats and cages of various sizes.
  • Assist with pouring, distributing and finishing concrete.
  • Thoroughly and effectively communicate with foreman and crew members to resolve construction related problems to eliminate delays and maintain efficiency.
  • Promote safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment including compliance with all safety rules and regulations established by the company and project owners.

Education and Work Experience Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
