Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, full-time, non-tenure track, Limited Term Instructor or Limited Term Assistant Professor of Technical Communication faculty position in the Department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design with a preferred start date of August 2025. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • The primary responsibility for the position will be teaching the undergraduate-level introductory course, TCOM 2010: Technical Writing.
  • Additional classes may include, but are not limited to
    • TCID 2002: Productivity and Tools
    • TCID 2170: Introduction to Digital Media and Culture
    • TCID 3100: Professional Development
    • TCOM 3030: Instructional Design
    • TCOM 3431: Information Design I
    • TCOM 4000: Technical Editing
  • The teaching load is 5 (Fall) and 5 (Spring).
  • Faculty will primarily teach courses in the face-to-face modality. Some sections of TCOM 2010 may be taught hybrid or online.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Technical Communication or Professional Writing or a related field at the time of hire.
  • Experience in teaching face-to-face courses in a higher-education setting
  • Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Subject-matter knowledge in technical communication genres, instructional design/technology
  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of interactive design (UX, UI)
  • Experience using learning management systems
  • Experience teaching hybrid and online courses
  • Strong proficiency with both the Adobe Suite and the MS Office suite
  • Industry experience as a technical communicator is highly desirable.
