Job summary

Scottsdale Unified School District 48 is seeking a Limited Appointment Facilities Services Worker - Custodial - Float to support daily custodial and grounds tasks at our campuses. Starting date is immediate, with a 40-hour per week schedule and an hourly pay range of $17.88–$18.60.

Responsibilities include cleaning restrooms, trash collection, light maintenance, and assisting in building and grounds upkeep.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of safety and customer service principles.
• Ability to perform routine custodial and groundskeeping tasks.
• Capable of basic maintenance and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Performs manual labor: cleaning, trash pickup, moving furniture and equipment.
• Assists in responding to internal requests and safety incidents.

• Notifies supervisors of needed repairs and maintenance.
• Assists in routine grounds maintenance such as weed control and cleaning walkways.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

This is the entry level into the facilities services series. Incumbents perform basic custodial, building or grounds maintenance, or general laborer work. Duties might include: picking up trash and debris, mowing the grass; performing building maintenance such as changing light bulbs; vacuuming; cleaning and maintaining restrooms; and, performing general laborer type work such as moving furniture and room set-up. Incumbents may also operate light equipment such as vehicles, tractors, and mowers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

• Performs manual labor activities, which includes: emptying trash cans; gathering materials and equipment; placing materials and/or equipment in proper locations; sweeping; setting up furniture and/or equipment; digging; cleaning; moving furnishings; painting; and/or, performing other related tasks.
• Assists and responds to internal customer requests for assistance, inquiries, and/or other related requests; and responds to emergency situations as required to ensure the safety of students and staff.
• Maintains facilities, vehicles, and/or equipment utilized in daily activities; troubleshoots, maintains and performs simple repairs and preventive maintenance to equipment; monitors inventory of supplies.
• Notifies appropriate individuals of required facility and/or equipment repairs.
• Under direction, performs routine, minor repairs.
• Assists in performing routine grounds maintenance activities, including picking up trash, sweeping walkways, and weeding planter areas.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):

High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (positions in this class typically require):

Licensing Requirements:

• Valid Arizona Driver’s License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and intense noises.
