Primary Duties:

Maintain all Carding equipment.

Tools Required:

• Complete set of hand tools, necessary gauges, and specialty tools
• Company issued lock out/tag out
• Grease gun, oil cup, steel toe shoes, hand truck, ladder, hand roller picker, utility knife, cut resistant glove, OSHA approved air nozzle for compressed air, respirator, safety glasses, brush, ear plugs, and broom

Materials Used:

Fiber, empty cans, ID bands.

Supervision Exercised:

None; receives instructions from Supervisor, Yarn Mill Technical Manager, or Yarn Mill Manager.

Job Procedures:

1. Follow all established Plant Safety rules.
2. Repair breakdowns and perform maintenance on all Cards and Card Chutes.
3. Perform tear downs and rebuilds on cards and card chutes.
4. Maintain Card settings and sliver size.
5. Select, issue, and transport bales of raw material from the Bale Warehouse to the Opening Room using the lift truck with the squeeze attachment.
6. Refill the propane tank on the lift truck, using required PPE.
7. Set up and monitor blend line control panels.
8. Remove tags, chokes, and laps from condensers, beaters, hoppers, and duct work.
9. Inspect and clean blend line magnets.
10. Doff re-workable waste bale from the baler.
11. Repair breakdowns and perform maintenance on all Draw Fames.
12. Correct machines with high %CV or periodic defects.
13. Inspect auto levelers and sliver monitors for proper operation.
14. Check emergency stop buttons, creel stops, and hood switches regularly.
15. Maintain proper can builds and material identification signs.
16. Perform style changes and process Product Development requests.
17. Brush cylinder and doffer wire as scheduled.
18. Polish bottom screens as needed.
19. Fill in for operators when required.
20. Ensure metal detectors are turned ON daily.
21. Maintain spare component inventory and assist other Technicians.
22. Perform other duties as directed by management.
