Job Description

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Checking rail cars and trucks for foreign materials
• Loading trucks and rail cars with hydrated lime, quick lime, and by-products to legal weight
• Observing, monitoring, and reporting any conditions that could lead to product nonconformity or other irregularities
• Participating in safety meetings and training sessions
• Inspecting work areas for safety hazards before beginning work activity
• Climbing onto the top of rail cars, trucks, and/or loading platforms
• Loading rail cars and trucks to proper weights
• Using rail switches and assisting loader operators during loading
• Taking and recording tank measurements for inventory purposes
• Inspecting and cleaning rail cars
• Performing other duties as assigned by management

Work Conditions

Most tasks are performed outside or in areas that may not be climate-controlled. Noise levels are constant or intermittent and may require hearing protection. Tasks involve exposure to weather conditions, dusty environments, repetitive routines, and physical labor, including lifting up to 100 pounds.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently up to 75 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds
• Normal vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and focus adjustment

Hazards & Exposure

• Moving mechanical parts
• High, precarious places
• Caustic chemicals
• Wet and humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, petroleum products, toxic chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock risks, radiation, vibration

Compensation

Starting Pay Rate: $27.70 per hour
