Utility Lines Construction Services, LLC in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Lighting Technician C to install and maintain streetlights and related equipment from aerial devices, ladders, and ground level.

This entry-level role involves safe work practices, coordinating with public and private property owners, and travel for emergency storm work. CDL preferred or obtainable within 90 days; expect overtime and physical outdoor work.

Qualifications

  • Must show capability to work with heavy equipment and energized HV systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot unidentified circumstances on site.
  • Willingness to climb structures and operate required tools.
  • Proof of work experience, schooling, or certifications relevant to the role.

Responsibilities

  • Clear work area and maintain safe jobsite conditions.
  • Excavate to assist in installation of structures or cable.
  • Communicate work to property owners and coordinate with others.
  • Perform on elevated surfaces and handle lighting power supply tasks.
  • Assist higher-level techs in lighting construction and maintenance.
  • Safely work with voltage up to 600V with minimal oversight.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisors.

Job Title:Lighting Technician C

Job description summary: Entry-level position that works from aerial devices, ladders, and ground level to install and maintain streetlights and related equipment.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Clears work area and maintains safe jobsite conditions.
  • Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specification.
  • Will have contact with public and private property owners to communicate work to be performed.
  • Exposed to traffic and may require flagging certification.
  • Work on elevated surfaces.
  • Any other duties related to the installation of lighting power supply.
  • Assist a higher-level technician in lighting construction and maintenance.
  • Safely work on voltage 600 volts or less with minimal oversight.
  • All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must have knowledge of heavy equipment.
  • Ability to problem solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
  • Must have knowledge of working with energized high voltage systems requiring specific skill set.
  • Must be able to climb different structures and possess the tools to do the climb.
  • Must be able to identify, operate and service all required tools and equipment. (i.e., bucket truck, digger derrick truck, tensioners, puller, rollers, hand tamp, chain saw, concrete saw, shovel)
Education and experience
  • Be able to provide proof of work experience, schooling, and any certifications that you have obtained during your career.
Traveling Requirements
  • Must be willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
Driver License
  • Valid CDL is preferred or willingness to obtain valid CDL within 90 days of employment. If unable to obtain, please discuss this during the interview process.
Safety
  • Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8 or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
Pre-Screen
  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasionally (up to 33%): Sitting, Kneeling, and Crawling
  • Frequently (up to 66 %): Stooping, Squatting, Body Twisting, Manual Dexterity, Reading, Climbing Ladders, Climbing On/Off Truck, Climbing Poles, Gripping, and Climbing Stairs
  • Continuously (up to 100%): Standing, Walking, Sense of Touch, Speaking Clearly, Seeing Distant, Seeing, Reaching, Range of Motion, Hearing-Speech Range, Depth Perception, Color Vision, Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting Over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., Balancing, Lifting Up to 10 lbs., and Lifting Up to 50 lbs.
